South-west Mallorca is the island's golf and tennis corner. The stretch between Palma and Andratx contains some of the Balearics' best-known courses. This editorial overview introduces the clubs and explains which residential areas are nearby.
The best golf courses in the south-west
- Real Golf de Bendinat in Bendinat: probably the hilliest course on the island, 18 holes, par 72, set in one of the greenest residential areas.
- Golf Santa Ponsa I in Santa Ponsa: a 1977 classic with one of the longest par-5 holes in Europe.
- Golf de Andratx in Camp de Mar: a demanding 18-hole championship course whose "Green Monster" is among the longest holes in Spain.
- Arabella Golf at Son Vida (Son Vida): three courses (Son Vida, Son Muntaner, Son Quint) in Palma's most exclusive hills, with Son Vida having hosted the European Tour twice.
- Golf de Poniente near Calvià, close to Magaluf and Palmanova.
Tennis and padel
- Mallorca Country Club in Santa Ponsa: one of the finest clubs in Europe, with grass, clay and hard courts, padel, a pool and wellness. It even hosts the ATP grass-court tournament before Wimbledon.
- Bendinat Urban Country Club in Bendinat: top padel courts, a pool, a gym and a restaurant.
- Palma Sport & Tennis Club in Santa Catalina: tennis and padel in the heart of the city, plus a gym, pool and class programme.
Where to live alongside it
If you want golf and tennis to be part of daily life, the smart move is to live where the courts and courses are:
- Golf focus, quiet and green → Bendinat, Son Vida
- Tennis and city life → Santa Catalina
